Metal - Best Electric Guitar?

Post by StottieCake »

I was going to put this thread on the local bands notice board but I'm not sure if it gets read regularly and this is an emergency, well not really, but my son's 21st birthday is in early June.

Thing is, he has an old electric guitar bought second-hand and the pick-ups are loose and its not sounding too good so he said he'd like to have a NEW guitar.

Bearing in mind that for his 22nd birthday and forevermore he will get socks and underpants, we don't mind spending a bit more money THIS year.

Even I can sound good at heavy metal when I hit the distortion button. (smoke on the water, opening bars).

Has anyone got a suggestion?

Take him over to his grand parents and for one hour solid have him play ACDC and Guns and Roses hits. Then tell them that he is trying to raise money to get a new guiter. They will pour out lots of money for this and say good luck but we have now decided to retire to the Bahamas to live. Harry Belafonte here we come.

Marrasis - visit regulary to Fowler St. Picks are great! _ he was looking for a Flying Vee but really uncomfortable to practise with cos you have to stand up to play.

Global - remember the Banana Boat Song cartoon Day... Oh.......
Don't think it's his stuff though but I love it

Oh he is, sorry if I sound unappreciative.

In the olden days I used to go to Music Maker at Mill Dam and before that to Westoe where Brown Sugar beauty salon is now. He was/is great. Everything purchased was written in pencil in his book. The bands used to practise there in the shop and I thought that was great.

Hi Stottie,
I usually like to buy second-hand from car-boots and do them up to re-sell, but if you want new I can recommend (having bought from both)

Good luck.
If you want me to look out for a s/h bargain just give me a PM.

If you dont mind a little bit of a travel Stottie, Air Guitars in Gateshead are a good bet. Should be able to get fixed up no bother.

cheers.

No problem offthewall. A mate of mine got a good deal from them just before last Christmas. He bought a yamaha pacifica for around £115 and is over the moon with it.

cheers.

:D Thanks for your links - great help.

An Ibanez S guitar is the favorite so far.
