Trinity Church School address

Post by urfa »

Hi jim, Commercial Road is the correct address for the school, it was a dark dismal school, although I never attended there I used to play in the yard a lot before they demolished it after world war ll.
There was a Scout troop at the back of Trinity Church cemeterary, I was in that troop. Best wishes.... Urfa

They did not demolish Holy Trinity school until well after the end of the war. I can remember my school, St Marys playing them at cricket and football up to the mid fifties.

I attended Trinity Church School untill about 1948/49 before moving on to Mortimer Road County Secondary School. As already said it was addressed as Commercial Road. I never thought of it as dingy but I don't have any endearing memories of the place.

Don't tell me - Crimdon Dene, Saltwell Park, Seahouses, Flamingo Park, Butlins at Filey, Morpeth all the places we visited on street trips in the 50s and early 60s?

You missed out Ryton and Corbridge which were popular destinations for Mrs Brown's trips from South Eldon Street circa 1953

We went from John Williamson Street. I also missed out Redcar, we went there once but not to the races. We never thought it odd that we mainly went to seaside places.
