What with Prometheus just coming to the cinemas and all, I thought it might be a good time to ask if anyone here knows where in Shields Ridley Scott was born. Dozens of sites say 'Ridley Scott was born in South Shields', but none give the address.

I'd love to know if his birthplace is still there, for one thing. Thanks.

There you go again Mr A, why would I lie about something that can be checked ? Many years ago a gazette reporter was taking pictures of our house, so I asked why and he told me it was where Ridley Scott used to live, we had lived here for many years without realising it. Maybe an apology ? I wont hold my breath, Was it not you that said you were in the SAS in Iraq

You have been to my front gate often enough Mr A, maybe an apology now ?

Pilots,i knew it was his house . Its the first stop on Jakes Bus Tour, After 20 pints in the Scotia, He tends to do a bit moonlighting [to make a few quid for another 20 pints !]
Your place is the first stop on the tour -" Homes to the Rich and Famous in South Shields" . When he stops ,he never tells anyone about Ridly Scott mind, he just starts cracking jokes about antique cooker's …Whats he like eh ?...

You live in a huge house, pilot.
=D> well done on that excellent pension.

I had never heard of Ridley Scott (i am not up with all the actors on screen, let alone directors).
Good list of movies there. Loved some of those.
I looked up when Gladiator was released; about 2000.
If that photo in your paper was taken around 2000 and was not an older one from their archives, then the man has aged dramatically in the last 12 years. (I saw a recent photo on wikipedia)

Ridley Scott's first film, he borrowed an 8mm Bell and Howe cine camera and got a £60 grant to make a film, this is the result.

Am I right in saying that you mentioned you were a related to the Curry family. Now you are related to the Green family. My father was a Curry and my mother was a Green. We will have to compare family trees. :D :D
