I see on the news that some 16 year old idiot managed to shut the metro down by waving a toy gun about---------stupid tw*t could have got himself shot-----and then all hell would be let loose

It's now official policy for Northumbria Police to send an armed response unit to any incident that involves anything that looks remotely like a gun. They reckon the ordinary beat bobby cannot tell the difference between a genuine firearm, a fake, or a toy.

Best prepare for any eventuality.

Scenario--------your an armed response officer----you don't say "Is that a toy gun your pointing at me sir" you make sure you stop him before he does any damage.

wasnt there some bloke shot down the coast a few years ago when he was waving a toy gun about outside his house?

tragic, but if you were an armed bizzie would you take the chance that the gun pointed at your chest might be a toy? I wouldnt.

bairns playing cowboys & indians, or whatever the modern equivelent is (Saddam and Paras?) is one thing. What does anybody over 16 want with a toy gun?

Why would anyone want to carry a gun toy or not, if they get the gun out in a public place they deserve everything they get. These days the toy guns look so realistic. So how is anybody to know that it is a fake.
