Radio Control Racing Cars Come To South Shields
Bents Park in South Shields is set to stage the second round of the North East Radio Control Racing outdoor regional series this weekend.
On Saturday (24 May) the 4-wheel drive cars will compete followed by the 2-wheel drive competition on Sunday - all the action takes place between 10am and 5pm on both days.
This series for radio control 10th scale off-road cars attracts the best drivers in the North East with competitors from Berwick to Bury. Approximately 80 drivers attend for the tightly contested outdoor championship.
Each day begins with drivers competing in four heats of ten cars to qualify for the finals held later in the day (finals start at approximately 3.30pm).
Councillor Tracey Dixon, Lead Member for Culture and Wellbeing said: "It's great to stage an event of this kind in South Tyneside. I'm sure it will be a tremendous event seeing the drivers test their skills against each other on a demanding grass track with a range of obstacles and jumps."
