Still got yours?
Anyone remember when we were given these medalions, I think mine was given at school sometime in 1974 to celebrate / remember South shields Cooperation 1850-1974.
It is produced from a very light weight alloy and resembles a light brass colour.

Re: Still got yours?
In 1953 When Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth Every primary school child in New Zealand was given a medal. Many years later one of my children found it and asked me what it was. I told them that I had won third place in the liars olympics. They believed me. Then I told them the truth. And today I have no idea where that medal is.

I've still got mine .......... I've had it 63 years
Re: Still got yours?
63 years Brian, are you sure, the medal has 1850-1974 printed on the reverse when in 1974 it was demised into something like Tyne and Wear away from Durham County Council and South shields Education authority ceased - I think!

I'd forgotten all about these crowns - I've got one knocking around in it's original sleeve in a box somewhere. They were issued to kids at school and '74 sounds about right - to mark the end of the Corporation.
