I got drunk for the very first time upstairs in the County in 1964, I was a none drinker at the time being only 16, the friends (I use the term lightly) I was with decided if I didn't drink I would be better off on cider, it was sweet rough sickly stuff out of a cask. Six pints later and I couldn't walk, most of the cider ended up in the front garden of my digs. I have never touched cider since that day.

Same as you Pilot, first time I ever got drunk was on cider, it was at a friends birthday party when I was sixteen and I've never drunk it since.
How anybody drinks it is beyond me.

In the early 60s Whitburn club put a barrel of rough scrumpy cider on, it was only 6d a pint instead of a shilling for scotch. Can remember the old pitmen knocking it back and then seeing them collapse outside when the fresh air hit them. I do not think the police let the club sell any more draught scrumpy after that.
Can also remember going to the County and having 4 pints of red barrel before going to the dance at Daniels and fighting everyone there.

Soydurr (Bulmers) was the drink of choice in the 5th year at school when you went to house parties - I think it has a putrid taste

there was a load of charvers sitting on the bus last night when i was going to the snooker hall, sitting there with there 3 litre bottles of cider and smoking rollies, really drunk. i think that it sends people loopy because they were neally all fighting with each other.

Went to the County 2 weeks ago first time for a couple of years.
Couldnt believe how packed it was at 8pm, everyone seemed happy and friendly really good vibes.
Only problem was smoke, could hardly breath.
