The Voyager - early eighties

Post by malaymac »

The Voyager in the early eighties. Anyone remember drinking there during the early eighties ? The manageress there was great and ran the place very well. However, just in case anybody got to carried away, she had a huge Rottweiller called Luther who would wonder around and size everyone up.
You know, just in case some crowd control was required !!!

Played Footy for Voyager team early Eighties remember the manager who owned dog, he fell down stairs at pub and died of injuries. Cannot remember his name but he was in early 30s and wore glasses.
Fellow players where Bruce and Mel Carnell, Eddie Mensforth, Davey Kilburn, Steve Aka, Col Porter: It was very popular back then, Happy days.

Unfortunately I also cannot remember his name (was he called Derek ?), but I remember when it happened, he was on a life support system for a few days and a very sad time it was. This was followed by another tragedy for the mangeress when her new partner met an untimely premature death a year or so later.
