Went to the Jungle a lot then the Fleece, Chain Locker, Mariners great and the Stanley. always got the 10.15 ferry back for last orders in the brig back when Steve and Terry where mein hosts. Terry then went on to run the Havelock

Johnhna was 65 I remember playing on the building site next to Brinkburn the watchy was a little old bloke but he could not half shift, do you remeber him as well he was also on the houses in Lorraine Road up to the shops

My dad was on the Venturer we lived in Laygate then moved to Whiteleas in 1959 Gainsborough is were we lived after the whaling finished he worked on the rigs was on the Ocean Prince when it sank in 68

Just thought I would mention whaling, which South Shields was an integral part, my dad was on the Ventutrer and they did not like the Harvester crew they tied up at Brighams or Middle Docks for repair before in the late 50s and early 60s they were some of the largest vessels in the river at that tim...

I remeber doing that it was normally on a Thursday night, also had wheelbarrow racing on stage, prize was for the winners of the race tickets for coach to Blackpool and b&b, ps worked in the Shoreline and the Rokoko in Sunderland and occasinally the club in Grangemouth Edinburgh.

I remember the pop man used to turn up every week and we used to buy 5/6 bottles per week, they tasted brilliant the van used to have the sign running along the top with all their flavours Orangeade, Lemonade, Sarspsrilla, Cherryade, Dandelion and Burdock, American Cream soda, LImeade and Raspberrya...

Wigwam went there a lot also the Latino/Tavern the hurdy gurdy disco looked great, but they also served great chips, from 69-69 worked in the Shoreline.

Anybody know the name of the record shop that was in Keppel Street, (what its name was in the late 60s) got all my Sounds, NME there as well as listen to the music.

The basement floor at Binns had a bit of a slope and we used to run down it, our little legs trying to stop before you hit the shelf, thats were all the remnants went to be sold as well.

Soon be bonty night, when I was younger we had the biggest bonty in Whiteleas, everybodys garden had wood in it and we built it on the field just a few yards from the road Barney knows, we made banger guns, rocket launchers from scaffold pole and threw jumping jacks at each other, nowadays kids dont...
