With the lack of activity here I wonder what attracted a Spammer?

I thought the shop doors would have been shut by now.

Anyways how are you & Champ doing?

I retired in November last year..... after some health issues & getting sick of jumping hurdles & being micromanaged by my employer.

The COV19 lockdown has been a rerun of Groundhog Day.

Dying for a draught beer.

Cheers
Nappies & Politicians should be changed often. Both for the same reason.

Nice to hear from you gnads.

I escaped from Panama a month ago where the government imposed a dry law.

I was also dying for a beer and didn't care if it came out of a barrel, a bottle or a can.

Unfortunately had to go into a two week quarantine when we got back home, but we managed to get beer.

Good too hear from you Gnads and Beachbum.

The shop has been practising social distancing long before Covid stepped in.

And even now there's never no more than 10 in the shop! Bloody goode effort really

Can't wait for a draft beer myself. Tooheys New ideally.

Been giving the Rum and Ginger Beer a bit of a nudge in recent times!

Good to hear from you Gnads and I hope that you enjoy a long and happy retirement. I was able to retire (for the first time) at the age of 52, when statistics showed that the average time my colleagues drew there pension before popping their clogs was 18 months! After a year of relaxing, I went on to do two other jobs earning a couple more smaller pensions and retired finally at the age of 65. I am now heading for 76 and although I am creaking a bit - no, quite a lot, I'm still chugging along and quite enjoying life!

I have spent some of the time during 'lock-down' reading the diaries of Sir John Evelyn, a Contemporary of Samuel Pepys another assiduous record keeper of the events of the 17th Century. They lived through The Great Plague (1665) The Fire of London in 1666 and reported of the other great hazards to life such as smallpox, an ever-present threat and various life threatening 'agues'. Though our knowledge and technical ability has increased in leaps and bounds since then, they commented and complained about many of the same things as we do today. In some respects, not a lot changes! :D

Glad to see you got home OK. During the 1960's when in The Merchant Navy, I passed through The Panama Canal quite a few times travelling between Canada and The US, heading for Australia and New Zealand (and return) and loved the experience, particularly if I was able to get ashore at Cristobal for a couple of hours while taking on fuel. The heat, humidity, the spectacular scenery and what seemed to me, the very exotic night life there (That covers a great deal), were an experience no young man should miss!

We planned on making Panama our permanent winter home, but are having doubts because of the situation there, like I am going to spend 5 months of every year without a beer and the quarantine restrictions are brutal.

I have a car down there which I might never see again.

There are several enclaves of North American and European retirees who live there year round and some have already bailed out and many more are leaning that way.

These expats put a whole lot of money into the country and if they go, it will hurt the countries bottom line.

If things don't improve, Beachbitch and I will probably do what most snowbirds do and drive to Florida each winter.
