H S Edwards Street sometimes known as Harry S Edwards Street has been demolished. The lytton park estate is built where it once stood. It ran off the bottom end of Barnes Road next to the Newcastle Shields railway line. Other Streets were Lytton Street Garwood Street Taylor Street.

I used to live at 66 Garwood street and also 310 Taylor street, one of my most vivid memories is looking up the road through the bridge to Redheads shipyard gates and seeing all the men lined up waiting for the luchtime siren to go and then it was like the charge of the Light Brigade.
Whoa betide anyone who got in their way as they went home for lunch or what have you !!!

Started married life in West Walpole Street in 1953. One that Curly missed was Byethorne Street but I think he got the rest of them. Young's Transport was down there and what about St Francis' Church that went under the hammer? Anybody out there remember Father Riley and what tales could you tell

I remember Father Alderson. From the early 60s I was in the cubs there for a couple of years. Went on "pilgrimages" to Durham and Ripon.
