On a more serious note about Drones, the massive disruption at Gatwick Airport seems increasingly likely to have been a 'panick attack' by those charged with looking after passenger safety. There has been a steady stream of information appearing about the incident some examples of which are: 'The sighting of drones in the area were only from members of the public.' or 'The wrecked drones found near the airport have been ruled out as being responsible for the incident.' or: 'Police say that the drones reported may have belonged to them.'

The couple initially arrested, whose house was searched and who were subjected to some very nasty comments on line turned out to be totally innocent of any involvement, must be feeling extremely upset by it all. One cannot help compare the disruption caused to our railways in the in the past when either hoax bomb threats were received or careless travellers left items in Stations that were identified as potential bombs and all London rail travel was brought to a halt for several hours.

The consequences of making a wrong decision during such incidents are always horrendous: either massive and expensive disruption to the lives of huge numbers of people, or the risk of a large loss of life involved if the threat is real. I suppose the decision will always have to fall on the side of safety first, but the mental strain on those having to take such decisions must be huge and have lasting effect on their self-confidence if the threat turns out to be without foundation.

the ones deploying them should be classed as terrorists and be dealt with under the law as such.

There is some mystery attached to this Sam: were there any drones at all? And the police statement that it could have been their drones that were reported. We probably will never learn the truth. :?

Not a lot being said about drones at the moment, particularly those that brought our airports to a halt. Took my mind back a few decades to when 'unidentified flying objects' (code for Aliens :D ) used to be a frequent occurrence at Warminster. Perhaps people should be taking more water with it.

We bought all our Grand kids Drones for Christmas and had fun testing them to make sure they'd work. I live not far from Gatwick plenty of open space in which to test them. Best thing to do is find a big empty space. No hills or trees or pylons... We had a great day out.
