Hi Dennis I was there in 1945/46.I don't know if you remember me I had long short trousers with a double seat in them, garters that dug into my legs and a pudding basin haircut. I can remember writing on my slate with chalk and showing my work to the teacher. If my memory serves me right she was a Mrs Swann. The school was lit with old gas lamps that used to crackle and pop.
I remember that my friend and I were called up in front of the whole school and reprimanded severely for going home on the buffers of a goods train. I used to live in Watling Street then.
I left the school around the end of '46 as my mother had remarried, (after my father was killed during the war) and we moved down to Surrey to start a new life.
