Thry are now saying that they have not finalised the budget for the Olympics and it could be £9bn.

i.e nearly 4 times the figure quoted in the bid.

Is anyone suprised :?:

Before the bid went before the Olympic Committee, magazine Private Eye claimed that the proposed cost was well under the true figure, based upon KPMG's own figures. Eye also predicted that after the bid was accepted the true cost would come out and that there would be some Audit Commission hand-wringing over the cost, but political expediency would ensure the project went ahead.

It's funny how none of the normal 'news' papers covered this. Instead they all blindly backed the bid. Now they're after blood. Funny old thing, the press.

 wow....I could have thought 'twice' the amount would have been a huge budget blowout....but "4 times"....??? I wonder who the silly treasurers are then
One thing's certain.....with 4 times more being spent on it, I would imagine it will be really spectacular.

The USA does spectacular. Us Brits do adequate. Perhaps the 2012 Olympics will break the mold and give us spectacularly satisfactory.

Its such a far cry from the original Olympics

Where they ran about for the love of it and got a hand plaited laurel wreath to wear on your head as a prize.
