an old friend of mine sent me a text the other day, well weeks ago harping on that I needed to come over to Shields for a night out.. OK I said but then I decided not to go at the last minute.
Anyways we arranged it again and I was really looking forward to going round Ocean Road and the town centre hoping to maybe see some old faces..as I've not been out there for years and years.
Not to be, I met Tony at 7.30pm we went to the Alum House - crap,
the (his choice) the Lambton Arms - total and utter dive full of dopeheads then we looked in at the Marine - near empty. Even The Ship & Royal/Scotia/Criterion were like morgues.
Godddddddd I was totally thrown at how much has changed and have come home early in sheer disappointment at how boring and quiet the place is these days.

You're right Cisco, but he made a beeline for that place and I didn't even realise there was a pub there, inside was disgusting full of down and outs, mortal drunk and smoking huge reefers - openly.
I didn't even want to sit down on the seats cos they were so scruffy not to mention the 1/2 pint glass I had..the weird thing was he knew several of them in there

I used to go out every Saturday night in the late 80's early 90's and the place was buzzin', now I only drive down there on sat nights to pick my daughter up from work and it's sooooooo quiete, what happened to the hundreds of people walking about the streets going from pub to pub? :?
