I scan everything...... only way to be safe.

I'm very wary of downloading executable files. So mainly just music or music videos.

scrappy you said you use limewire, what I want to know is when I've downloaded something how do I save it from limewire to my music file on computer.
I've tried everything, but it stays on limewires library.

Cisco

When a file has downloaded you should find it in the folder you choose to share.

I scan it and move into separate music files ( 80's, rock, pop etc ).

When you've done that just delete it out of your limewire libary.

when I downloaded the songs I clicked on save as and selected my music file, but they went into my documents in 1 folder.
In winmx they automatically go into my music file separately.
I'm running windows xp.
I'm going to try changing the settings on it to see if that works

Cisco; before you do anything, try this. Shade out all your music you have just downloaded then simply move them to your music folder, then it's all starightforward from then.>>>>>> 8)

Cisco

If you click on TOOLS on top menu, then OPTIONS, you can select the
folder you want to save your files in.

When a file has finished downloading, you should find it in your selected folder.

You can then delete them from the libary.

Thanks for your help, I'm going to try both methods.

I'll also pass it on to my son as he is having the same problem.

Sorry Cisco been away for a couple of days, when Iv downloaded my songs they automatically go into my shared folder. Iv got my music set up in a shared folder that I created on my desk top, and only that song folder is shared..

Thanks very much for the advice Scrappy, the info will get me started.

It's always the same with new programmes, they take a bit of getting used to.

Allan,
never download anything illegal, or pirated, from the internet, there are too many organisations monitoring sites and file sharing networks and p2p clients. (see my pm)

Actually I've recently seen rumours that the P2P including Limewire have been having pressure put on them by USA courts.

It seems they might introduce something in the near future which stops you downloading if you haven't got a licence.

Bummer.

Actually P2P isn't illegal as it is a way of sharing files which are not subject to copyright.

I've often wondered about second hand record shops like the the Handy Shop that used to be in Walpole Street as if you read the small print on a record it says that they are not to be re-sold, hired, copied or lent.

We used to get all our records from there!

Yeah I got one of my Quintessence records from there.

Bet you don't know who they were?

Indian sounding though only familiar with one track - Gunga Mai was it from that Island sampler called Nice enough to Eat.

We used to rummage through the 3 bob singles boxes. Though I did get Tomorrow's album, the group with Steve Howe there.

Yes, Nice Enough To Eat.....I had this album and I remember it was great. I gave it away sadly. Was Nick Drake also on it?
