Re: CURRY FAMILY SOUTH SHIELDS
My name is Peter Hewett. My mother's name was Margaret Curry, callled Peggy, born 1916 in South Shields. She had sisters called Bell, and Willomena (who was deaf and dumb) and a brother named Dave. The family came from mining stock and my mums section of the family moved down south. Margaret married Frank Hewett, my dad. Does anyone know of any Curry's connected to my branch of the family? Thanks in advance.
Re: CURRY FAMILY SOUTH SHIELDS
Hi Peter, how far back can you go on the Curry line?
I, too am looking at the (a) Curry line. There are numerous lines.
My grandfather was born about the time of your mother (about 1910). His father was George (1877) (DCM killed in WWI), and his father before that was Henry (1851), and before that Henry Curry (1815). They were all coal miners.
Henry (Generation 1 as i refer - 1815) had 11 children (all in Durham region), so it may be a long shot that perhaps your mother's line may be related to one of the 11 siblings (born between 1843 - 1859).
Anyway, good luck.

Re: CURRY FAMILY SOUTH SHIELDS
Hey, I too am researching the Currys family tree. The Currys tree im looking for is the Currys store LTD family. Henry Curry 1850 started the bikes in his shed. But where i get stuck are when they come down to plymouth. Anyone found anyone from that line that came down to plymouth?
Re: CURRY FAMILY SOUTH SHIELDS

Re: CURRY FAMILY SOUTH SHIELDS
Hi, this topic caught my eye as my Dad has often wonderred what happened to a cousin of is. She lived with him for a long time as a child & was more like a sister to him. Her name was Gladys Curry & she was probably born in the late 1920's or in the early 1930's. I would love to know anything at all, especially if she is still alive.Thank you,
