Oh I remember the paper shop too!..I used to buy ha'penny chews and a mars bar for my mum , the spaceships were good but my fav was pirates tobbaco..long bits of coconut rolled in cinnamon and sugar!...hard to find and only a few corner shops had it...but I knew where to find them

Jem, I know your Uncle Ken Lubi, he wasn't on the tugs he was a pilot cutter skipper before he went on to work for the Port of Tyne in the Port ops, as far as I know he's still there but he must be approaching retirement.

Last time I saw him was at a retirement do two years ago, but I've known him for about 35 years mainly through work, but also the odd function, he is a very keen photographer and must have thousands of river shots. The first picture is probably take on the Tertia and the second definately on the Caer Urfa.

Well I do know when he left the Pilot cutters to take the office job, we lost one of the best skippers we ever had, we relied on those guys to get us on and off ships, sometimes in really bad conditions and he was one of the safest pairs on hands we had. But I think his career move was a good thing for him. =D> Just tell him Jeff. Egan was asking after him and wishing him well.

That's not the nursery, that is on the corner of Anderson Street and Beach Road the nursery was Fowler Street/Beach Road. Opposite you can see St Johns church where I had my first of two christenings.

Over the last 10 or 20 years, I can recall it being the offices of a local insurance broker (at street level)
but unsure about years prior to that, or offices on other floors.

I know of it being a Nursery, social services and solicitors offices. May have been a shared building of which I'm not sure
