Reading News Chronicle 1943 ad for Wrigta biscuit factory at the bottom of Boldon Lane, used to by broken biscuits by the bucketload from there and also Moores store in Whiteleas Way, just taken them out of the tins.

Used to collect the cards they had in the biscuit packs.

nice photos, liked the one with delivery lorry. A neigbour of ours in Quarry Lane Mr Grey used to drive one of them and he used to supply us kids with the cards.

here is a photo of the cards from my main site, i had 5 or 6 complete sets of them but sold them on ebay, i think i have one set left, they look good in a frame

Wrights must have been an influencial firm at the time to be granted the number 1234 (1,234th) number ever allocated in Shields. When you think numbers were then allocated to the telegraph poles with each having upto fifteen numbers maximum, pole one would have the first set of numbers 1001-1015 and so on. I reckon they must have bought or secured this number from the GPO at the time for business reasons - easy to remember.

Wrights biscuits have been in Shields since 1781 and the second photo is the one from the newspaper.

When i was serving overseas in the 60s we sent a letter to WRIGHTS and said how nice there biscuits were .a week later they sent us a box ,very nice of them
