Re: Some more old photos..
thanks for sharing them Brian, liked the one of Dene Terrace, councillors row we call it. That was when several councillors fiddled it so they got houses there overlooking the park. Nothing changes, they are still in the majority like pigs at the trough.
Re: Some more old photos..
Dads family moved into Dean Terrace when they were first built.
itw was at the York Avenue end, I think it was No12 or thereabouts

Re: Some more old photos..
Fabulous photos, from an age almost entirely forgotten.
What's the phrase, a picture is worth a thousand words - or something like that.
There's something so special about those black and whites (and these are great examples along with the recently posted buses at Robin Hood bank etc) which unfortunately the later colour photo's never quite capture (even when they are beautifully taken). No disrespect for todays photographer offering a 'million different shades of everything' but the old one's are just so fascinating. Sorry guys, I like that stuff and yes, I'm a sentimental fool.

Pilot, with your 'ports of the world' history you could have easily have fooled us into believing this was some exotic beach in the Far East. However, your honesty and pride in the lovely photo prevents you from spinning a tale. Good on yer and thanks for another great photo.
Re: Some more old photos..
And this my Father....taken in India.....he was there before the 2nd World war and also during the war so I'm not sure when it was taken my guess would be his first tour early 1930s, he would have bee 100 years old in April this year.

I remember the paddle steamer tugs used by Fenwicks, used to love watching them work.
I also remember the foy boats, I think there are a couple showing in Pilots photo. They
were always black with white and green colours around the gunwhales.
Jimmy, are they glass slides or glass negatives?
Re: Some more old photos..
I think its one of the old paddle tugs made fast to the Groyne bouys and yes there are a couple of Foyboats in the picture.
