From my reading of it, the man who was attacked is saying he did not stab the robber.
The robber, on the other hand, repeatedly stabbed him. There is proof of that.
The implication then is that in the course of the attack and with the shopkeeper struggling to escape, possibly pushing to get away, the robber ended up cutting himself with his own knife.
It doesn't sound as if the shopkeeper deliberately picked up the knife and stabbed him. Maybe the thief went to thrust it but it was deflected back into him.
If this is the case, then there is no charge to face, surely.
In fact it would be insulting to be charged with murder or even manslaughter in a case like that because all the man did was struggle to fend off an attacker and we are all entitled to do that much.
