Scrappy's post reminded me of the below, it appeared in a 1950s women's magazine, its not a spoof. We put it inside the card of all the weddings we attend.
THE GOOD WIFE RULES.
* Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return.
This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned
about his needs.
* Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up,
put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. His boring day may need a little lift and one of your duties is to provide it.
* Clear away the clutter before your husband gets home. He will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a little lift too. After all, catering for his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.
* When he arrives home, listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him,
but the moment of his arrival is not the right time. His topics of conversation are more important than yours.
* Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to dinner without you. Instead, try to
understand his world of strain and pressure and his very real need to be at home and relax.
* Don't complain if he's late home or even if he stays out all night. Count this as a minor
compared to what he may have gone through that day.
* Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or have him lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
* Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgement or integrity. He is the master of the house and, as such, will always exercise his will with fairness. You have no right to question him. A good wife knows her place.

That was excellent advice-alas and alack then came that stupid Australian woman by the name of Germaine Greer and her and her burn the Bra brigade ruined everything that man had and rightfully deserved as head of the house.

Mothers and women in general are respected.
I always amazed in this country how women are so put upon and derided they have no respect and the answer is in their hands.
TEACH YOUR MALE OFFSPRING TO RESPECT YOU AND WOMEN IN GENERAL.
A lot of families are raised solely by single parent women so why is there such a problem.
Come on ladies be the role model for your children and teach them respect

My Son has great respect for me ,, and his elders.
He has been in the R.A.F for nearly 7 yrs, where discaplin and respect is a must .. if you teach your child manners from an early age, it comes to them naturaly as the grow into adults..
My daughter is a diffrent story,she has manner and respect , but does not follow orders to well..
