I got a taxi last night down street.
The fare came to £4.20
I told the taxi driver to take the straight £5, and handed him a £20 note.
"No, I can't change a twenty!" he said, "It's my first job of the night"
I checked my change, all I had was £3.60
"That'll do mate!" he said
What's the point in that?
Taxi drivers must know that people might want change, why lose out on tips (only 80p, I know!), just as to not give change out.
This has happened to me before.
What would have happened if I didn't have any change at all?
Surely he must have thought before he started work he might need change.
I know, it's only trivial, it just bugged me at the time.
There, that's my moan over.

I would agree with you, Mr CD. I don't think it is very business like to start off with no change at all. I know even when I worked at a school fete, each stall was given a 'float' of $20 to start us off, because of course people often need change. That taxi company is poorly managed, IMO. Yes, it is lucky you didn't only have a 20.
I would have thought it was pure common sense to have change for any customers. And lots of change at that....as there may be a succession of customers that only have that 20 pound notes....then what happens?
I wonder how many people have been caught out at not having had change given back to them?
What do you do?
I would say......drive me for nothing then, to an all night shop of some sort so I can get change for you! Then drive me back again.
