My mother Margaret Elizabeth Chisholm SIM was a full cousin of your great grandmother Margaret Leslie SIM - I note that you are very interested in the SIM family of South Shields (as I am!)
Would be pleased to hear from you.

George SIM (1814-1876) and Margaret ROY (1836-1909)
had 9 children
Margaret Jean SIM born 1856 died 1857
Georgina SIM born 1858 died 1861
Elizabeth Margaret Shand SIM born 1864
Jane SIM born 1864
George Francis William SIM born 1865 (your 2x great grandfather)
John Roy SIM born 1868
Matilda SIM born 1870
William Roy SIM born 1873
James SIM born 1874 (my grandfather)

Elizabeth, George and James came to South Shields with their widowed mother - Jane ended up in North Shields and the others remained in Scotland.
I suspect a connection with Thomas SIM and family who were in Westoe in the 1881 census but have no proof as yet.

I have quite a lot of information on all of the above and would be very pleased to share it with you.

I used to drink with a guy of that name in the late 70's early 80's. I know he used to work in Harton cemetery but dont know if he still does. He used to be a bit of a biker.

I am aware this post was quite some time ago but but I have just discovered that William Sim who was the son of George F W Sim (above ) was my mothers uncle. I am trying to find out any info I can. Williams sister in law was my grandmother and I have hardly any info at all so I am piecing it together bit by bit. Any help you can give me would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi,
I have only recently joined this site so i know this info is very behind with everone else!!
Incase you are still looking for info on the Sim family of South Shields, my Mam is Dawn Short (nee Sim), her father is George Sim, he has a twin brother called Hector, and there is also Raymond Sim and Bob who sadly passed away. It's a big family, i know Hector has sons but i cant remeber everyones names as i live in Darlington, i could ask my Mam though if anyone is interested?
