COULSON family Westoe 1860's

Post by historyman69 »

I'm descended from people who seem to have liked to move around a fair bit - but I know that I have South Shields in the tree!

My g.g.grandfather Thomas Coulson moved to Westoe with his wife (Elizabeth) and had at least 5 children. Joseph was born 1862 in Lower Thames Street (now demolished I think) and worked like his father as a ship-smith/blacksmith before moving to London.

Joseph then married a Poplar girl, had at least 10 children and moved again to Cardiff - where his grandson (my father if you're not following closely) married a girl of Italian/Welsh/Irish origins.

This is probably why I have ended up in North Yorkshire!!

Any info on the family, addresses or pointers gratefully accepted.
