Hi All,
I see a photo of a Brian Kirkley in a Mortimer School photo from 1951/52. I sailed with a marine engineer of the same name on the collier "Corbeach" in rhe 60's. He was from South Shields, and I was wondering if it was the same bloke, and if so, is he still alive and kicking? Anybody there know who I'm talking about?
Regards,
Brian

Re: Brian Kirkley
I'm not sure if Brian is still around, there was someone of the same name
and age died a few months ago but that person lived in Jarrow I believe.
I'm in that photo as well and was good friends with Brian but lost contact
with him after we left school. Quite a few of the lads in the photo finished
up in the Merchant Navy, and a few of them are no longer alive. Those who
are still living will be 72 or 73 years old now.
and welcome to the boards.

Wise man talk because they have something to say,
fools talk because they have to say something.

Re: Brian Kirkley
Thank you very much for your welcome and the info provided. Sorry to hear the news, if it's the same person. Brian and I joined the"Corbeach" on the same day in 1963, and became drinking buddies. When we went our separate ways he was just about to get married to a girl named Vivienne (I think her name was). Never had any contact with him after that. I never had any contact with Shields either; most of our loading was done in Blyth, Newcastle, Sunderland, but I still bear a fond affection for the people of the area, and the good times I spent there. My HQ would have been the "Seven Stars" in North Blyth, sadly no longer in existence. Anyway, nice to talk to you, and again many thanks.
