next door neiboure cnr The Ridgeway and King George Rd in the middle 50.s was a mrs Goudie

Wasnt there a Sandford Goudie who owned "Be Modern"

Robert Goudie who lived in East Avenue in Marsden was in my class at South Shields Grammar school--He had brothers/sister(s) one of whom was Jeff and I think he was the cousin of Sandford Goudie who had nightclub La Strada I think

The Goudies from East Avenue were,
The da - Jimmy, worked at the Port of Tyne
The ma - Hannah, worked at Burnsy's boading house after being widowed in '74. Died '85
Jimmy - army then various jobs. Died around late eighties/early nineties, or so the rumours go.
Anna - Cleadon Park, John Collier's.
Robert - Grammar School, Wright's Biscuits and Port of Tyne.
John - Cleadon Park, Port of Tyne, Army.
Leonard - Grammar School, Port of Tyne. Died 2003
Jeff - Grammar School then Cleadon Park because he wouldn't get a haircut! Died '72
Peter - Cleadon Park, various
Janet - Cleadon Park. Filtrona and various.

Sandford was the Dad's cousin.

Just found this post. May I be of assistance as all of the folks mentioned above are me clan as Len Goudie (RIP) was my dad.

I am related to the Goudies in Shetland and looking for connections in North East especially South Shields. Many seamen of that name settled came from Shetland in the 1800s & 1900s and settled in this area. Any help appreciated.
