Hilary and Alison West

Anyone know my two cousins lost contact in the late 1950s they will be in their 50s now. West was their maiden name and they were born and lived in Shields, Father was Alan and Mother Jessie nee Pickering.

She is my cousin and we lost touch when her mother died in 1958

Ah right.

I knew of Alison, but only because she was Hilarys sister.

I worked with Hilary at Hintons back in the 70's.

She lived in Centenary Ave, on left hand side within about 6 doors up from the Hill. I would have to go and look to remind myself which one.

We use to go to Crazy Night etc ( topical ) and I met her boyfriend Fred Bewick from Sunderland.

She married him after he joined the RAF and moved away to RAF Chippenham.

Lost contact after they had a son, Kevin I think.

Loads of good nights with Fred and Hilary, involving lots of booze...

It's funny, but I was just wondering about them not so long ago..

Thanks for that Axeman, it is my cousins because I did know that they lived in Centenary Ave for a while, but letters sent got no response and i didn't like to cold knock on their door. But your info fills in a couple of gaps. =D> =D> If I'm remembering correctly Hilary would be 55 this year and Alison about 52. Making then 5 and 2 the last time I saw them, its amazing how you can lose touch.

Yeahs thats right...I'm 52 and she was about 2 -3 yrs older than me.

Well..I lost touch too, so i guess we are both wondering where there are now !

Hello pilot, you have found your cousins at last. I am Alison nee West and my sister is Hilary. My mam died when I was approx 2 and we lived in 32 Eleanor st. After her death we moved to 46 Eleanor St to live with our grandparents -Bessie & John West aka nana & pop! My dad is Alan & he still lives in Centenary ave. Hilary still lives in S/Shields & I now live in Chester -le-Street.

Hi there, pleased you replied. Ive only logged onto this site tonight as my closest friend had noticed your messages looking for us. What a co-incidence! Mind you she is a family historian/geneoligist and she has done some research on our Pickering line as part of a project on Tyne Pilots, so she was really excited and got in touch straight away.
I'm pleased as well. You mentioned sending letters to Centenary Ave --both Hil and I were unaware of this and if our wonderful stepmother had her way --they probably went straight into the bin. She hates anything to do with our mams memory & we were never allowed to talk about her openly!! Would love to have private chat but I'm not familiar on how to do this--can you advise?

This is the 2nd time Sanddancers as come up trumps for someone that I've known.

Two friends got together after 30 yrs apart and are now married after I posted on here a couple of year ago.

I told the story somewhere on here...must be in the archives ?

It's strange how things turn out though.

By the sounds of it, a friend doing research on Tyne Pilots brought the connection together..

My mother keeps saying that she's sure things are planned out for us !!
