These water photos are so breath takingly beautiful! I will add a pic I took while walking around a popular track near my abode (Lilydale Lake). 8)

Image

The next one is a sunset that looks on fire, and the trees blend in with the blur of sunset colours (an interesting effect because I took this photo through the side passenger window of a moving vehicle)

Image

And just for a change of pace....a palm full of cockies!

Image

It just amazes me how tolerant some equines are of these nuisances!

Ah, it looks like beautiful weather at Gaita Bay. Would just love to be wandering around there instead of off to work on a bit of an overcast morning.
great photos, everyone.

I have a great photo I wanted to put in this months competition. That I have titled EYES. But my computer will not let me.
It claims it is dangerous because of the number. Which said number was given it when I had a print made of it.

Vote for Bruce.

SUGGESTION: Curley there are so many entries could you just pick out say six photos that you like and then hold a poll and let the viewers pick first, second, third etc down to sixth place.
With one rule you are not aloud to vote for your own photo.

Well guys, some of you have raised the bar with some pretty high standards in this batch of entries. I've found it so tough to decide on a winner and feel terrible that at least six pictures cannot share the honours.
Because so many of them are so good, I'd like to announce a top three, but I'm terribly tired tonight and I'm retiring early.

I've made my choices and will announce them in reverse order tomorrow (I hope I can use all three).

O.K. here we go, as promised in reverse order, here are my three winners which I would like to feature in South Shields Daily Photo (two of them can consider it a bonus this month).

In third place Rossinisbird's Loch Shiel

Image

Calm and peaceful with plenty of colour, well composed and detailed.

In second place Mr. Smith's portrait of Carlo

Image

It's gritty, full of character and I'd love to see it in high contrast black and white.

In first place GtirBri's magnificent picture of Souter Lighthouse with threatening clouds as the backdrop

Image

The depth of colour and the sublime contrast is excellent.

If all of these "winners" could email me a large copy of the picture (about 1024 px wide) to south-shields[at]blueyonder[dot]co[dot]uk along with a description and short story to go with the picture i.e. how you felt when you took it and how you felt when you saw the result, a few details about your camera, or what you were up to at the time, I will be happy to get them posted up for you.

Standards were very high this time and it's a shame that I wasn't able to pick from some of the good entries from "down under" which were very commendable, perhaps next time eh?

I'll announce a "theme" for the next one shortly.
