I was thinking the same, John did an excellent job there. Big contrast.

Rossi is almost the same as my first suggestion of Rossy. Only the spelling is much different. :D

My first photo is green but not with envy. My second photo is blue but not with cold.
When you see them, you will see why one is green and one is blue for they are both one and the same.
And can anyone guess what it will be?

Its a Hydrangea before it gets its colour and after it gets its colour. The before is when the bud-buds have opened up and the petals are forming and no colour is in it apart from the green.

For total transformation from before to after, I have decided that Sless's kitchen is the winner for this one.

So if he could email the two pictures to me (at about 1024 px wide) at south-shields@blueyonder.co.uk with a short story about the transformation of the kitchen, I'll get it up on my photoblog for this weekend.

Well done Sless.

It is unusual colouring Tweedlady by the time the buds have all got their colour it is like pastel coloured in this instance blue.

The Hydrangea is unusual in that the colour is dependent on whether the soil is acid or alkaline. Don't quote me but I think if the soil
is acid the flowers are reddish-pink and if the soil is alkaline the flowers are blue.

Some gardeners are able to put extra acid on one side of the shrub and extra alkaline on the other side of the shrub so that you end up with a shrub with two different
colours on it and some times the flowers in the middle of the shrub can be half pink and half blue. So on the one shrub you can have three different coloured flowers.

Congratulations Sless in winning the before and after competition. =D> =D> =D> =D>
