Photocompetition ending Sunday 18th October

Post by curly » Wed Oct 07, 2009 12:01 am

Sorry my bad - I forgot. To make matters worse I'm planning on being offline for a few days this weekend to move my workstation into another room. So you all have a bit extra time to get those pictures in.

Nice one, Blue. The color of the water in the top photo is amazing. =D>

Bring it on, Bamboo. It could shape up as a "surf's-up" throwdown! :D

I love the surfing photo Blue. My son loves surfing, I have tried a few times but it is much more difficult than it looks.

you should try the bodyboard Jersey, good fun and fitness, just doesn't look as spectacular as the surfers...

Excellent collage of photos there, Blue.
I thought the pics looked very clear, you did well.

Go ob Bamboo, post your surf pic, too.

That's a great collage with the surfers! What photo programme do you have that does that?

A good telephoto lens is needed and good hands to click the shutter at the right time. Good ones Blue. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

thanks global ... but you'll be surprised to know that my focal length was only around 170 - 175mm .. oh, i just wish i had lenses like Bri.. but anyways.. you use what you have got and work your way around obstacles and deficiencies of your camera... i know the pictures that i wanted but just didn’t have the focal length that i need.. they could have been so much better..

i took 5 shots in this sequence of pictures...
time being..
10.37 – 40 secs
10.37 – 42 secs
10.37 – 43 secs
10.37 – 44 secs
10.37 – 45 secs

The trick with these pictures with a small focal length is that they were surfing into a small bay area... so tripping and stumbling over rugged rocks to get out close to the surfers paid off... although i had water lapping my ankles ... i waited nearly 2 weeks to get the right conditions and light for these shots that i had invisioned... so it is nice for even one person to have taken the time to look at them and appreciate them :D

The bacon would do it every time, ted.
That'll get him.

Seriously though Blue, those are wonderful shots. I quite like having the rocks in the foreground.

An extra large dead barracuda might do the trick.

Where are the Brits? This week they are being very Pro podium instead of being Anti podium because they want an Aussie to mount the winning dias. Or to put it into plain English they know when they are beaten.
