Sherri they are mangroves and grow in sea water
they must have there roots wet at least twice a day

Actually, there are some coller climate mangroves not far from here at Tooradin. School excursions used to take us out in a little boat round a sort of lake and we would see these mangroves, with roots jutting into the air, but the plants were more like bushes and all close together. I didn't realise they looked like trees, thought they would be more scrubby.

Ive seen them beside Lakes and Rivers Scrappy ,but never on the beach ,its a first for me ,,i have so much to learn :D
when the tide comes in ,they must be nearly underwater ....nearly .

You wonder how they survive in the salt, Eight mile is FULL of them, sometimes Half a metre up on them..

We get lots of varieties of mangroves here they are just one
will try and find some more later.The tide in the pic is still going out
when fully out they will be out of the water

and anyways.. what more do you need than an 8 megapixel camera with a 5x optical zoom anyways?

your picture has a bit of a Fiji feel to it.. on the coral coast like :)
