Contrary to what was posted by 'Matty the Mariner' on Saturday, January 5th, which included his closing comment "No wonder the share issue has collapsed". The Supporters Association issues this statement to repute this quite malicious, erroneous, and ill founded piece of misinformation. It is no more than conjecture on his part, and no doubt wishful thinking that this is indeed the case. Why one should deliberately place comments as this in a public place, designed obviously to bring damage and harm to the prospects of the share issue in achieving its very much hoped for success to actually help as a contribution from the club's own supporters association, of which he is not a member, and the general public to attempt to purchase Filtrona Park as a home in perpetuity defies all logic, from a person who styles himself 'Matty the Mariner'. His comments contradict his pseudonym, and undermine any credibility this professed former SSFC supporter may once have had. He should know, be aware and realise only too well that his continued use of the forum to post his potentially damaging comments as this particular example have eroded all possibility of him ever being acknowledged, let alone welcomed on any appearance at Filtrona Park to say the very least. So what indeed is the motive and purpose behind such comments as he so chooses to post one may well ask. Whatever may be one's opinion of the manager, the team, the league table position etc etc the subject of trying to secure the long term future of the club itself is quite another matter entirely and it is to that the association is trying in difficult economic circumstances for business and public to raise funds with which to help the club it supports. It would be far far better if common sense were used and such comments he has posted were not employed, and to leave the club and its association to work out their own salvation whatever may come to pass. He may say whatever he likes about personalities and the team, they cut no ice with genuine supporters, we all know and appreciate the clubs problems and where it is, but of other matters central to ANY future the club may have, such as the share issue, should be left well alone. If sufficient capital is not forthcoming by the end of March when the issue will close, then decisions will then be taken otherwise by the club if at all possible and available, we shall see what develops. In the meantime all who would wish to actively help the club are most sincerely invited to contact me for information concerning the share issue and I would be most pleased to oblige all enquiries.
