Shields are at home this Tuesday evening against Newcastle Benfield, kick off at 7.30pm, weather permitting, and the forecast is not at all favourable, in what is an absolutely must win game with three vital points at stake that would lift them off the bottom of the table, and give a boost to confidence prior to Saturdays match against Team Northumbria. Benfield will have their own relegation problems to concern them if they go home empty handed, but nowhere as bad as the position Shields are now in. They did themselves no favours at all on Saturday against Shildon, and missed several good chances, while conceding yet again from what was a free header. However debutante Clarke from Bishop Auckland had a decent game, and hopefully new loan signing Mellish from Spartans will add both strength and ability to the defence. It is of course very much the hope that Paul Robinson will lead the line and show us what he is capable off, and that further signings will happen during the course of the week. Results this month will no doubt go a long way in determining the end of season situation, and Shields destiny is in their own hands, as the next two scheduled games - if they are both played, will be crucial, as management, players, committee and supporters all very well understand.
