The opportunity exists to move up to third off the base of the league table if Shields can take full advantage of the midweek fixtures to be played and do the business against Durham City and get a win result. With players expected returning from injury and available for selection, and following the win on Saturday against Penrith and the lift that gave the team, club and supporters, no motivation should at all be necessary to really go out and give this game their very best shot to move off the bottom, we all sincerely hope so to further help to lift our spirits. Chances as they happen have to be taken and the defence has to tightly shut the door. No doubt a good following will be at Durham's fine ground to cheer and encourage the Mariners on, let's hope the team give us a really good show for this important game and get the result we all want. It's in the spirit of a cup final that needs to be won, no more and no less.
Durham City HOME. P8. W3. D1. L4. F19. A17. Total GD -18. League position 21st, with 13 points from 18 games. Form table 20th, with 4 points from the last 6 games.
South Shields AWAY. P7. W1. D0. L6. F7. A 24. Total GD -26. League position 24th, with 10 points from 15 games. Form table 22nd, with 3 points from the last 6 games.

COME ON THE MARINERS =D> =D> =D>

A good chance to pick up some points/point tonight. Always difficult playing 90mins on 3G pitch but all the lads should be used to it as played and trained on it numerous times. Durham have some old shields players in Irving, Oatesy and Sid plus more recent Ricky Fenwick. I'm confident we can turn these over tonight with the same grit and determination shown Saturday.

P58 W18 D7 L33 since August 2011..............and they wonder why people dont go anymore

This has to be the worst since the dark days of Sima Hall=Shields are not Northern League standard in any shape or form

Just who is supposed to be leadiing this club???i
