LOOKING AHEAD ....

Postby passtheball » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:40 pm

As an ongoing endeavour to attempt to instil more interest in the fortunes of SSFC on this forum, with what are hopefully considered by readers as being items worthy of comment and debate, the sequence of the next four NL games poses some questions. All are away from home, and a look at the current league table games played column, tells us that in order to maintain as possible a position near to where we are at the moment, points have to be gained, no easy matter in the circumstances of the moment. Having again unfortunately pressed the proverbial 'self destruct button' on Saturday, enforced absences to come of two key players may prove no doubt to be crucial.
1. Saturday, February 13th, Tow Law v SSFC.
2. Wednesday, February 17th, Norton v SSFC.
3. Saturday, February 20th, Consett V ssfc.
4. Wednesday, February 23rd, West Auckland v SSFC.
So it is therefore that the same spirit and determination as displayed against Spennymoor is asked for, but minus the kamikazi moments and other poor tackles that are making for an uneviable disciplinary record, this really has to be curtailed. A result against Bedlington Terriers in the 3rd round of the League Cup on Wednesday evening will do very nicely as a start, and is an opportunity to get back on track into a winning way. So Mariners - get to it !

Some challenging games lie ahead in February. If the "true" Shields team turn up then a good few points could be snared. The chance of finishing in the top six should be a good incentive for the lads. I am sure the club would have been happy with that in August!

Unfortunately for me I will only be able to get to one or two games this month, probably Bedlington at the end of the month and possibly Consett (unless more snow appears of course  ) However I will be willing the lads to rack up a few good results. I realise that the last few results have been far from spectacular but we also suffered some shockers earlier this season before going on a fantastic run of victories... keep the faith [-o<
Children are smarter than any of us. Know how I know that? I don't know one child with a full time job and children.
