SSFC v SPENNYMOOR GAME IS ON.

Postby passtheball » Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:11 am

As of 10a.m. a message from the club chairman confirmed that the game today will in his opinion be played, there is no pre match pitch inspection planned or arranged. Further there is no lying surface water, although the pitch is heavy. It has been covered since midweek where problem areas are known, and this morning these have been forked. It will be a referee's decision on his arrival at the ground to confirm this comment or otherwise, but as matters stand it is considered unlikely that the game will not be played. No volunteers are required to help further today. but will most probably be needed tomorrow, as the pitch will be affected and will cut up with play today, and will no doubt need attention to prepare it for the game scheduled for Wednesday, Durham Challenge Cup 3rd round tie versus Bedlington Terriers. Information about this will be announced on the public address system with details for Sunday etc.

In a rather selfish way I was hoping the game might be off as I cannot make it this afternoon! I hope that the lads play more like they did against Whitley Bay at home and less like they did away to Bishop. In what will undoubtedly by a very tough game it is a great opportunity to show just how good Shields can be when they focus their minds and show total commitment. No doubt the sticky pitch will create a few unforced errors for both teams and may well drain the legs of energy as the game goes on. Let us just hope that we pounce on any opportunity presented and come away with three lovely points! [-o< :D
