What's the coverage like in the UK ?

England may be in with a real shout in this one. Hopefully the momentum will kick in and it could be our Trophy.

i think the idea about this board sanddancer is that you can post about

general sport outside the 100 years war on the safc/nufc boards

and it does not clog up the other boards

for the other poor souls in life

who do not like sport

has simonside still got a cricket team

they used to play at the top of fenwick avenue

years ago

Forgive me for thinking that Simonside Club Sporting Clubs was a thread that covered the Sporting clubs from the Simonside Club.
Considering the moderator ' Hellraiser' was running one of the teams when this part of the board was started, and the majority of the posts are about the Sima's Sunday morning football team, I feel it was a fair assumption, don't you think!

Not sure at the moment, but I will try and find out this morning at the football.

Your of course right, not a lot of posts on here, but I think that is due to Hellraiser now working away, and I'm only at home for 3 - 4 months of the year so the people with the interest in the teams are not always available.

In any case, off to watch the slaughter. The Sima lads are playing one of the top teams of their league this morning, so this could be a cricket score :(

Asked one of the committee this morning and he told me that the Simonside Club have never had a Cricket Team, as far as he is aware.
The team that played or plays under the name Simonside does not have any links with Simonside Club.

Sanddancer:- andysfootball wrote has Simonside still got a cricket club, not Simonside Club.

I used to remember going to watch the cricket team in the sixties(lived in Wenlock Road+ Green Lane). we always had a table for tea for the kids.

I think they may have built houses on the ground(top of Fenwick Avenue).

I don't disput that, the point I made was they where not one of the Simonside Club Sporting Clubs

As I am not really a local Cricket follower I wouldn't know.

Yes i remember the cricket team playing at the top of Fenwick Avenue. The ground was owned by the Railway company there was also a football team and a tennis club.
The facilities were originaly built for raiway workers and family as many workers lived in simonside.
I spent most of my chilhood playing footy cricket and tennis there.
Railway carraige were made into club houses and changing rooms.

Best days of my life.

Unfortunately the land was sold off to the council for housing as was nearby Simonside hall, and the heart ripped out of SIMA.

Rocker:- I forgot about the tennis courts, and the railway carriages.

One thing I still remember was the cricket pitch was always immaculate, but the grass just past the boundary was 4 foot high.
