Went to the cheap (£1) shop on the Silverlink and they had bags of Black Jacks and Fruit Salads (mixed )

I remember black jacks and fruit salad - 4 a penny, and the agony of deciding which you would buy with your solitary penny! - but what were ruffles?

Can't recall them off hand.

Someone might have already mentioned this but I can't be arsed to read through all 5 pages of posts..........but, there is an old fashioned sweet shop on Heaton Rd, just off Shields Rd in Byker that sells all the old fashioned sweets that you thought you couldn't get anymore. They have shelf upon shelf of all those clear plastic tubs filled with all your favourites. Can't remember the name of the place but it's on the right hand side from Shields Road.
