I'm trying to trace the burial records of my ancestors but before I start I need to find out which were buried in Westoe Cemetery and which in Harton. I know Westoe is still open for burials in existing family plots but closed for new burials.

Does anyone know exactly when Westoe closed for new burials ? I can't find it mentioned anywhere on the net !

Cheers for any info ( The ST Council Offices were unable to tell me and could only give a rough estimate of the 60s or 70s )

If you contact South Tyneside Bereavement Services at the Crematorium, they should be able to tell you. I have recently visited Westoe Cemetery taking photos of CWGC graves.
