I'm surprised to see this on youtube seeing as it's copyright material. I'm sure that when
Bill Clavery gets to know about it, it will be removed. I've got the DVD and it's on sale
in South Shields.

Laygate was not really my end of town but I did live in lodgings at the Chi from 1964 to 1968 and after a 4pm to midnight shift I used to walk from the pilot jetty to the Chi via western approach and some shots brought back memories, as a kid our Doctors and dentists were both in Laygate lane too, if I remember right the Doctor was Hargreaves and the dentist Stokoe.
I voted leave

I was born above Halls fish and chip shop at 33 Laygate Lane where my Mam lived with her Aunt while Dad was away with the Royal Navy. Our Doctors were in Regent Road at the corner with Laygate Lane, Doctors were Lyons, OLeary and Eustace,am still with their practise at Trinity health centre Laygate.

I lived in Bowman street when I was younger then moved to Whiteleas, when the estate was first built, In Bowman Street there was a corner shop ran by an arab family.

Most of those are a bit before my time, but good to see.
The Wild Witch-Wizard of Whiteleas
Was a changeling's son from Mars.
He learnt his songs
From the Cosmic Throngs
And played them on a Fender guitar - Oh yeah.

Many sincere thanks Mr Smith, lots of photographs here I have never seen before, none of Wilson Street though unfortunately, but absolutely fascinating views and many well remembered.
