shields ex pat john who now lives in malta asks if anyone has any info on these two glass plates that he thinks could have been made in sunderland

If these plates were made in Sunderland they would have been made by
J A Jobling glass works. Are there any marks on to suggest they were made in Sunderland? There were a lot of companies making this type of glass commemorative plate; some are still in existence. These were obviously made in commemoration of the Boer War but I am sure the owner is aware of this. Sorry that I cannot add more on the subject at the moment.

I believe J A Jobling used a Phoenix as their trade mark during that period

I actually have one of these plates but i dont know where they were made,it was passed down to me from my grandfather,i contacted a bloke who collects this sort of stuff and he says they sell to collectors for upwards of £30 depending on condition.
