O.K Here is a question. Can anyone name all the pubs that were in the South Shields market place since the war? Not King Street, just the market. My father used to say you could have a half in every pub and be very drunk by the end of the night. (Mind you, he could get drunk on two pints )

I bet anything no one remember "Goat and Handlebars" it on site of where Tesco's was.

Yes Lisa, the Smugglers is still open. The original name was "The Lambton". Can't remember when it changed names?

Is that the Lambton Arms (Smugglers) that had an alleyway into king street along side it?

Jim, if thats the reason they changed its name they will have to change half the pubs in Shields to smugglers as well

is the mechanic's still open, you could buy milk by the pint glass in there
