Patent Slip South Shields

Does anyone know the wherabouts of Patent Slip on old maps of Shields?
In the 1861 Census some of my family ancestors lived at an address called Patent Slip House.
I would guess that its located in what was the Shadwell Street area but I am not 100% sure. Any ideas?

I think this is to do with a glass works.Ihave seen Patent slip bottles for sale on Ebay,they had a red hand on the bottle stoppers.

'Slip' plus the red hand was also the trademark of Evans lemonade...a well known local firm which existed in my childhood during the fifties and early sixties.

An interesting snippet which may shed some light on it.

"James P. Rennoldson", Engineer and Shipbuilder, Wapping St and Shadwell St, South Shields. Steam Tugs of all sizes always on sale. Patent slip way for repairing wood and iron ships, screw steamers etc. Lengtht 300 ft, capable of taking up ships of 1000 tons. Repairs done on the most moderate terms. The earliest of Marine Engineers, established in 1826 by George Rennoldson.

There are several slips all in close proximity to each other. They are at the bottom end of River Drive, where Wapping Street (Shadwell Street)joins it. There was a boat building yard there many years ago, the site is now occupied by a factory. The slips show on an old 1895 map but
they are not named.

Ah, Delilahcat, Evan's Lemonade! How I missed that when it ceased production - I don't think that any other ever matched it. Corona, Villa etc - just poor substitutes

I loved "EVANS LEMONADE."

Villa was too sweet. I've asked repeatedly on here if anyone knows who bought the recipe but to no avail.

Evans was the best lemonade.
