The bike shed.

After a dance class at Rose Mannings (Tyne Dock). We would roll back the fireside mat, pull back the settee and do a turn. The ChaCha to the sound of "Wheels" with my sister brings back happy memories.

A turn on the mat was very popular anyway. Playing spoons/bones. Song. Recitation. Gymnastics. Whatever the talent, us kids were encouraged to entertain the grown ups. I think it was cos they had no telly before and there's been bug*er all on since!

My dad did a great impersonation of Bette Davis which had us kids in stitches too

We used to call it knock down ginger

I always remember the sense of achievment when I climbed it for the first time.
