What is something you miss that is not here now?

I remember being in Shields the day before the concrete tower (that I assumed contained the winding gear) was to be blown up, and regretted that I was not there to take a photo of such a landmark being demolished. The same happened to me when they blew up 'the stack' at Marsden Rock - my timing was awful .

my wife called marsden rock elephant rock because it looked like one having a drink of water.

Great to see those photos! is the one: 'Another one you might remember', the one at Trow Rocks? If it is, I seem to remember it as being higher originally and then the top either being taken, or falling off at some point. Along with 'Target Rock' it was one of the magnets for we kids to climb.

The first set of wooden stairs that went down Marsden Cliff, scary coz they were falling to bits when I was a kid.

Also before they built KG School and the Holder House Estate looking in the ponds for newts and frogspawn, also spooky valley when it was cool.

been trying years got one from library but its very old will try and get it lightened

Pete if you pushed a lollystick up from the cup where your change sat you could get more the loolystick would trip the lever hey presto

Pram Wheels - how I longed for the wheels off a Silver Cross pram: Chrome plated rims, large at the back, smaller at the front [-o< Now a bogie with wheels like that, put you in a class apart - but I only ever seemed to get small wheels off a push chair. I sometimes got to push a bogie with silver cross wheels... It was hell being lower class .
