Two More Down Memory Lane Snapshots

Post by hartman045 »

c1969.. Jimmy Fairweather.. A Shipwright who worked n the maintenance department at Crompton Parkinson, River Drive. Here he is enjoying a 'hurried' ten minute tea break. He lived in Durham Drive at Fellgate. He moved there when the estate was built. He commuted to work on his scooter and sidecar.

c1969 A something or nothing contre jour shot in King St. There must have been a reason to take it, and I suppose it has some historical value in that the view from this point now, is completely discomknokerated. Looks like I used my 28mm WA lens for this one on a Pracktica Nova.

Is the Mermaids tale still there. I used to drink in there when I was young.

Yet again, this illustrates how much we DON'T like too much change in South Shields, the view today is hardly much different. O.K. King Street is now pedestrianised, but really, what other new developments do you see?
