As a matter of interest does any one know how long the large steel water tanks (i presume for fire fighting)stayed in the streets after the war finished.I remember a large tank quite close to the underground shelter in HS Eward st, at the top of HS street under a railway bridge and at the end of some rough ground used to be a stack of carley floats stacked about 25 high and old life boats lying about all over the place.Kids heaven lots to climb,lots to imagine....................
