South Frederick Street
Took this when they were demolishing the area. I deliberately let a couple of vehicles go past and leave their 'light trails' because I thought it looked arty, but recently I spent hours in Photoshop trying to remove them!
View from railway bridge at St Mary's (?)
I seem to remember that this was after the railway had been dismantled, but before the Metro was constructed, so I'm pretty sure I took this from the top of the railway embankment, not far from St Mary's church. Don't know which street it is, though. BTW, the terrible quality is what you get when you leave a couple of years between taking some pics and actually developing the film.
South Frederick StreetPretty sure this is South Frederick Street again, as it features the same shop (with 'wholesalers' on the sign) as the first pic. Taken from an attic of a derelict flat.
Frederick Street taken with 600mm telephoto
This was taken in 1982, I think. They'd just demolished South Frederick Street, which meant you could get right into the middle of the road to take a shot like this (and not be run over). The foreshortening makes it hard to spot individual shops, but you can see Binn's in the background.
South Palmerston Street (?)
I think this is South Palmerston Street, but I'm not sure.

Great photo's, Pete, even with the artsy techniques.
It was a tragedy, what they did to Trinity church, absolute tragedy!

Re: some photos of Old Shields
How on earth did the council get away with demolishing Holy Trinity Church. What a crime.
