I would think that lots of people who drank at 'The Jungle' would occasionally go missing for a day or two - it was that kind of place - that's what made it so exciting for us when we were young

I was in Drydock at Smiths in 1973, we had West Indian crew and one of them caught something very nasty in the Jungle, we sailed to Miami and I was giving him tetracycline the standard treatment for VD at that time, but when he went to the doctor in Miami it turned out to be a lot worse than Gonorrhea, next thing we knew the immigration people came onboard and removed all his gear and shipped him back to Jamaica!!!!
